Penley Estate Tolmer Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml (Coonawarra, SA)

Matured in French oak for 12 months of which 60% was new. Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. The nose shows excellent intensity with uplifted blackcurrant and liquorice aromas laced with mint followed by spicy cedar and light dried herb notes. Medium to full bodied with good richness and a plush feel, the palate serves up ripe blackcurrant and mulberry flavours with an undercurrent of bay leaf, faint earthy tobacco and spicy cedar characters. Slightly dryish finish, finely woven tannins seamlessly integrated with the fruit. Good depth with a lengthy conclusion. A very well made Coonawarra Cabernet that delivers terrific value.

This 100% Cabernet has notes of plum, liquorice and sage complemented by savoury oak notes.

A core of dark fruits fills the palate and is complemented by the chalky tannins providing drive and structure. A complex and savoury medium bodied style of Cabernet that will reward medium term cellaring.
